If you are looking for some great tips for keeping your apartment organized then you have found the blog post meant for you!

1. Use vertical storage in the bathroom. Most bathrooms do not have an abundance of space to spare so you need to maximize every inch of space. Vertical storage shelving can maximize space and keep things organized.

2. Use hooks in the entry way or mudroom. Hooks can be used for coats and jackets but they can also be used to keep bags and even shoes neat and organized so the floor space is not cluttered.

3. Hidden storage can help in the living room. Whether it’s storage hidden in shelving units or behind cabinet doors, or secret storage in a ottoman or decorative basket, these hidden storage areas can do wonders for keeping your apartment organized.

4.Under-bed storage in the bedroom. There is a lot of space under the bed so make the most of it. Use storage container that can slide under the bed or have custom bed frame made with built in storage.

Moving to a new apartment is stressful, from planning all the way to moving day.  Here are some apartment moving tips to make your move to your new apartment as easy as possible.

  • Supplies: You don’t want to be packing your belongings into boxes that will have trouble holding them.  It’s easy to come up with any old box but ask your local liquor store or grocery store for boxes they have sitting around because they typically have boxes that are very strong.
  • Preparation: The less you have to move, the better off you are.  Go through your things before you pack them to determine if you want to bring them to your new apartment.  If you decide that don’t want to keep something, pack it in a separate box and give that stuff to charity.
  • Moving day: On moving day, inspect your old apartment to ensure that you have everything packed up and that you have cleaned it to the landlord’s requirement, so that you aren’t charged any fees when you move out.

What can be the most joyous occasions of the year can also be one of the most stressful. Shopping for our loved ones for the holiday season can be a huge headache. Here are some holiday shopping tips to help you make it through the season.

  • Implement a savings strategy before the holidays. By saving small amounts throughout the year, you will relieve your stress quite a bit. If it is too late, then start by biking to class, or skipping the lattes for a few weeks. It really adds up.
  • Have a realistic budget, and stick to it. Figure out how much money you will really need, accumulate it, and stick to your budget.
  • Earn some extra cash through a part-time job, or selling things on craigslist or ebay.
  • Start your shopping early, as prices tend to creep up as the holidays draw closer.
  • Keep track of your expenses. Be meticulous, because money has a way of slipping through our fingers.
  • Do all of your holiday shopping with cash. Credit card debt is the last thing you need.

Making the most of space in your apartment kitchen doesn’t need to involve a major overhaul. A few simple tips can ensure light and space is maximized to its full potential.

Maximize kitchen space in your apartment by:

  • Keep color contrasts to a minimum. Coordinate your kitchen with accessories that feature colors that are the same as the overall decor. White is a great color to make the most of light and space within any apartment kitchen. Alternatively, use very light colors for the same effect.
  • Use light-colored furnishings and decorative features, such as pale wooden bar stools. Backless stools and glass light fixtures keep the line of sight open to make the most of the room and create an airy feel.
  • Shiny, stainless steel accessories act in the same way as mirrors and help create a reflective, light appearance.
  • Maintain the clean lines of your kitchen to create more space by avoiding ornate accessories and decorative features. Keep the kitchen tidy with a minimum of clutter.

Every family has that old box of silverware that has been around for generations. However, the look of that silver eventually becomes less than appealing. If you’ve tried everything but can’t get that old silver to shine, we’ve found the best ways to clean silverware.

Four home remedies were tested to see which one worked the best: banana peels, ketchup, toothpaste and aluminum foil. Of these four methods, it was proven that aluminum foil worked the best.

You’ll need:

  • Aluminum foil
  • Glass dish or aluminum baking dish
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • Rag for polishing

Instructions:

  1. Bring water to a boil,
  2. Add all dry ingredients into the dish and slowly pour in the vinegar. Be careful as the mixture will react.
  3. Pour the boiling water into the dish with the other ingredients and place the silverware in afterwards. Make sure each piece is touching the aluminum.
  4. Remove the silverware with tongs and buff out any remaining spots with a rag.

Follow these steps and your silver is sure to shine like new.

Leading a productive lifestyle doesn’t have to require a lot of time or commitment – here are five daily habits you can incorporate to help ensure that you feel good about your productivity at any given time:

  • Learn to Say No – You can’t please everyone, and when you try to make appeasements you leave less time for your own productive ventures.
  • Go to Bed Early – Get into bed by 9 pm so you’re early to rise and have more time during the day for essential tasks.
  • Exercise – Making a point to exercise daily (a walk will work!) will give you the energy to power through your daily tasks.
  • Take a Break – Schedule time to take a small break at least once a day so you can recharge your batteries.
  • Create a Schedule – Use a calendar to keep track of your schedule so you’re more likely to stick with it.

With some free time available to reflect on your achievements, take a stroll through our beautiful grounds for some fresh air and exercise. If you aren’t a resident here, contact us to schedule a tour and to learn more about our available units.

Cleaning can be a time consuming process. Luckily, with the right knowledge, it doesn’t have to take up your entire day! Here are some tips for apartment living that will get you cleaning in a speedy fashion!

First, make sure all of your cleaning supplies are in one convenient space. This will save time on trying to figure out where you put each and every item. Once all your supplies are in one space you’ll always know where to go when you want to start cleaning.

Sweeping isn’t as important as you might think. In fact, all hard surfaces do better by being vacuumed. Get rid of your broom and save yourself the space by simply using a vacuum.

That said, invest in a long extension cord. Nothing is more time-consuming than having to unplug and replug your vacuum in for every corner. Having a cord of about 50 ft at your disposal will cut back on the time it takes to clean.

Finally, make sure you have a system. This will help you to focus while you clean.
